Hair growth on the head is one of the most complex processes in organism. Intensity of hair growth depends on many factors: hormonal balance, metabolism, presence of vitamins and micro cells, external influences and some other factors. For example, at young people or children hair growth differs in special intensity whereas at older people hair growth is slowed down. It is possible to explain differences in a hormonal balance, which differs considerably at older people.
Hair growth of the head is cyclic. And the basic hair growth cycle consists of three phases: anagen, cetougen, telogen. For detailed consideration process of hair growth and its features it is necessary to lead a brief hair growth cycle review.
Anagen represents a growth phase of hair when hair grows intensively and is extended. This phase can proceed within 2-8 years. By the end of this period intensity of hair growth is slowed down. Hair of some people can reach several meters in the phase of anagen.
Cetougen refers to the phase of degradation. This phase proceeds 2-4 weeks. During the phase of hair degradation the roots of hair die off and hair core becomes weak and thin. Blood supply of hair's saccule is slowed down and the process of metabolism on this site of skin stops.
The phase of telogen is characterized by dormant period. It proceeds within 2-5 months. During this period there is a slow restoration of all hair's saccule functions. However, the intensity of blood circulation remains rather weak and development of new hair does not occur. A loss of old hair occurs in the phase of anagen when the core of new hair pushes out it from hair's saccule. In most cases all hair growth cycle lasts from 3-9 years.
Daily more than 140 hairs drop out which are taking place in the phase of anagen or telogen. This process is absolutely normal. More often plenty of hair can drop out in the autumn or in spring. Some people name this process as moulting. Updating of hair cover occurs at people similarly to seasonal moults of some kinds of animals.
However, if the quantity of dropped out hair within a day exceeds 200-250 hairs this process can have the pathological reasons. Besides if the process of hair intensive loss lasts more than 2-5 weeks it is necessary to consult a doctor. The reason of intensive hair loss in any of hair growth cycle phases can be considered a hormonal imbalance. In this case it is necessary to consult a doctor in order to get full hair growth cycle information. The duration of one or several phases in hair growth cycle can vary depending on some individual parameters of the body or a place of human dwelling.
In the case of intensive hair loss detection, which is caused by a hormonal imbalance, doctor-endocrinologistcan appoints special treatment. However, treatment is appointed after carrying out of necessary analyses. As a result of treatment the phase of anagen in hair growth cycle becomes considerably more active, improves a blood supply of hair's saccule and their functioning. Therefore the hair loss stops and the process of new hair growth is normalized.
